The Giant Elephant highest scorer has charged his teammates to beat the Sky Blue Stars to make amends for their Lobi’s poor display

Wikki Tourists leading scorer, Abba Umar has insisted that only a home win against Remo Stars on Sunday will help erase the unpleasant experience of their home draw with Lobi Stars in a re-arranged game played on Thursday in Gombe.

The Giant Elephants are yet to win a league game in their last two games since they defeated Rivers United two weeks ago in Port Harcourt and Umar was left inconsolable after their midweek 1-1 home draw against Lobi Stars,

For him, it was a fixture they ought to have wiped away the bad memories of their 2-0 away loss to Bendel Insurance last weekend in Benin.

Wikki were eyeing a place in the top five at the end of Thursday's encounter against the Pride of Benue had they secured the maximum points at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe but they were shocked when Dare Ojo shot the visitors in the lead in the 14th minute before Umar slotted home the equaliser in the 41st minute for his fifth goal of the season.

“It was a game we thought we could win and boost our chances of finishing well at the end of the season but the home draw has hindered us from achieving our target,” Umar told GOAL.

“We didn’t start the game well and after we managed to level the scores, we were unable to apply the finishing touch in the final third especially in the second half when they were under pressure for some periods. It was a game we felt a win could do us a lot of good but the draw was only a fair result because we were able to avoid another home defeat.

“We are privileged to have another home game against Remo Stars and it is only a home win that can help us forget about our experience against Lobi Stars. We are gradually moving towards the end of the season and all points will be important in the remaining matches. We can’t afford to be slack again.”

Wikki are in the seventh position in the Nigeria Professional Football League Group A table with 16 points from 13 matches ahead of the weekend clash with Remo Stars who are in the 11th spot with 12 points from the same number of games.
