Diego Maradona made his international debut as a 16-year-old kid in 1977 against Hungary and went on to serve the Argentina national team for 17 years.
He played in five World Cups and managed to win it in 1986 as the captain of the national team and guided his team to the final of the 1990 World Cup. The 1994 World Cup would be the last time he donned the Argentina shirt.
He played in only the first two matches of the World Cup against Greece and Nigeria. In their tournament opener, Maradona scored his final international goal as Argentina thrashed Greece 4-0 and in the second match against Nigeria, Argentina won 2-1 where Claudio Cannigia scored a brace.
