Will JJ Macias head to Europe? Is Andres Guardado moving to MLS? Who will coach Monterrey? Goal summarizes the transfer talk

America midfielder Sebastian Cordova is drawing attention from a number of European teams including Benfica, according to  A Bola .

However, if Benfica is going to make Cordova the first Mexican to play at the club since Raul Jimenez, it is said it will have to fight off interest from Sevilla and Manchester United. Cordova has three goals in 11 league matches this season and impressed in Mexico's non-FIFA friendly win against Trinidad and Tobago earlier this month.

Olympique Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking for defensive help this winter and may have personally contacted Tigres center back Carlos Salcedo, according to blog Football Club de Marseille .

With OM's defense hurting, the 26-year-old Mexico international may be an attractive option giving his proven European success with Eintracht Frankfurt and Fiorentina and his versatility in playing center back or either fullback slot. Salcedo's Tigres teammate Andre-Pierre Gignac is an OM legend.

Jose Juan Macias was observed by scouts from FC Koln during Wednesday's Mexico friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, according to  Marca Claro .

The Leon forward was scouted by Frankfurt, among other teams, at the U-20 World Cup in the spring, and people representing Real Betis and Manchester United also were present this week in Toluca to take a look at the 20-year-old, who scored in a 2-0 win.

This week, footage from Borussia Dortmund's  Amazon  series also emerged in which the club's chief scout Markus Pilawa watches tape of Macias' Liga MX matches from last tournament.

San Jose Earthquakes coach Matias Almeyda has not had contact with Monterrey about its vacant manager job, the MLS team said in a statement Thursday after reports Rayados had agreed to pay Almeyda's buy-out clause and make the former Chivas boss their new head coach.

The club also said there is not a clause that would allow Rayados to buy out Almeyda, with various reports indicating the contract has a list of teams who could make a move for Almeyda but the northern Mexico side not appearing on the list.

Former Argentina national team coach Jorge Sampaoli also has been linked to the Rayados job, with various reports saying the Santos FC manager is a target for Rayados and the club would be willing to pay his $900,000 release clause.

Hugo Sanchez and Antonio Mohamed are among the other names floating around as potential replacements for Diego Alonso, according to  MedioTiempo . Sanchez is currently a pundit who has not coached for several years (see below), while Mohamed had a successful stint with Rayados previously but was unable to get the team over the hump and win a league title.

Mexico national team winger Uriel Antuna is set to sign an extension keeping him with Manchester City until 2022, according to  Fox Deportes .

Currently on loan with the LA Galaxy, the 22-year-old scored four goals at the Gold Cup this summer and has six goals and four assists in 30 matches for the Galaxy this season.

Mexico legend Hugo Sanchez is the top candidate for the vacant Costa Rica national team job, according to  RadioCentro Deportes .

Currently an ESPN pundit, Sanchez last managed in 2012 but has put his name in the conversation for a number of openings since that stint with Pachuca. The Costa Rica job came open when Gustavo Matosas abruptly resigned, saying he was bored by coaching international football. Sanchez managed the Mexico national team from 2006-2008.

Mexico midfielder Andres Guardado will move to Major League Soccer in 2020, according to TUDN .

While various MLS teams are interested, according to the report, it's the Chicago Fire who would have the first right of refusal. Talks already are underway with Real Betis.

Chivas forward Oribe Peralta is considering ending his career after the Apertura, according to  Record .

The former America and Santos Laguna player is one of the most successful Mexican forwards in the last decade but with his last start coming on Aug. 28 and no goals to his name this season, the 35-year-old is considering hanging up his boots.

A Facebook post from Parma's account announcing Tigres manager Tuca Ferretti as the club's new manager looks to be a hack, with various reports indicating neither team has any idea about a potential move.

Ferretti is by far the longest-serving coach in Liga MX and is set to lead the northern Mexico club this weekend when it takes on Puebla on Tuesday.

Deposed Cruz Azul sporting director Ricardo Pelaez is unlikely to return to the club and now is being wooed by Chivas, according to  ESPN Deportes .

While Pelaez currently is on vacation and has not been given a formal offer by Chivas, the Guadalajara club's president Amaury Vergara is interested in bringing in Pelaez.

Last week,  Record  reported Cruz Azul president Guillermo "Billy" Alvarez is hoping to speak with the executive in a calm setting after a wild chain of events regarding the club's managerial situation set off the former Necaxa forward's departure. His contract, however, has not been officially terminated, leading to a bit of delay in figuring out where his next step will be.

Teams in Spain are hoping to bring in Leon forward Jose Juan Macias this summer, according to multiple reports .

Currently the top scorer in Liga MX, the teenager on loan from Chivas was scouted by a number of European clubs at the Under-20 World Cup. While Frankfurt was one of those teams, Sevilla has emerged as another potential suitor.

The Mexico national team will play its Concacaf Nations League home match against Bermuda within its borders but is seeking an alternative site to the Estadio Azteca, according to  Record .

Among the potential locations are Monterrey, Guadalajara, San Luis Potosi and Tijuana. The Nations League game against Panama likely will take place in the Azteca.

Carlos "Gullit" Pena is in talks with Monarcas de Morelia about coming back to Liga MX, according to  MedioTiempo .

Pena has terminated his relationship with Polish second division side GKS Tychy, a team for which he signed but never played. Now the 29-year-old midfielder, who has struggled with alcoholism in the past, wants to return to his home country. Pena is a veteran of Miguel Herrera's 2014 World Cup squad.

Lazio have Diego Lainez on the radar and may make an attempt to buy him from Real Betis, according to  Il Messaggero .

Lainez arrived in La Liga just six months ago, and in his introductory news conference Betis boss Rubi said he thinks Lainez is a fantastic player. However, the club may be willing to sell this summer if it can recoup its €14 million investment. The Italian club would look to pay off the debt it currently owes Betis after signing Riza Durmisi last summer and then pay the Lainez fee in a pair of installments. Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi may be forced to deploy a 4-3-3 this season, which would suit the 19-year-old winger well.
